
Ambassador Ito Naoki talks about challenging security environment, especially in Asia

Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki on Tuesday put emphasis on the importance of realizing the vision of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) for peace, stability and prosperity in the region with Bangladesh’s cooperation.
The envoy made the remark while delivering a lecture titled “Contemporary Japan: Its Foreign Policy, Security and Development Strategy” as a guest speaker of the National Defence Course 2022 at the National Defence College (NDC) in the capital, a press release said.
In the lecture, Naoki explained the challenging security environment especially in Asia and Japan’s foreign and defence policy as well as its international development cooperation strategy.

While stressing the significance of rules-based international order, the envoy emphasized Japan’s engagement in the development of Bangladesh and maintenance of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Around 90 course members including those from 17 countries attended the lecture and discussed various international issues and the relationship between Japan and Bangladesh.
